FC Barcelona are the solitary leaders of La Liga thanks to a great win in Ipurua against Eibar (0-3), and Real Madrid’s loss to Mallorca (1-0). The blaugranes now have 19 points, one more than Zinedine Zidane’s side, two more than Granada in third and three more than AtlĂ©tico Madrid in fourth.

Barcelona’s 3-0 win at Eibar on Saturday was, on the face of it, as regulation a result as you could expect for a game involving one of La Liga’s two giant clubs against... well, against most other teams in the division. However, the match at the Ipurua stadium did create a bit of history as it was the first match in which Barcelona’s front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann all scored together in the game.

The reserves were outstanding last week, but the trip to Llagostera in the north of Catalonia against a side just one point below them in the table proved very tricky indeed. Riqui Puig’s injury luckily doesn’t seem too serious, at least at the moment. The young Barça player, one of the ‘pearls’ of the Barça academy, had to leave the field on a stretcher in the added time of the Llagostera-Barça B match, which has ended in a 1-1 draw.
