The full-back is making an impact with Rubi’s men

Real Betis full-back Emerson was on target again for Los Verdiblancos on Sunday, rescuing a 1-1 draw for Rubi’s men at Alaves in La Liga.

The 20-year-old headed the equaliser on 55 minutes for his third goal of the season in 16 games for the club. He also has four assists for Betis in 2019-20 and, impressively, no full-back has contributed to more goals in La Liga this season.

For what it’s worth Jordi Alba has one goal and one assist, Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto both have two assists and Junior Firpo has also scored once.

Emerson has already talked about his desire to join Barcelona soon, he is co-owned by Barca and Betis, and the club have an option to bring him to the Camp Nou.

The youngster said in December “in my head I’m clear that I will go to Barcelona,” and he’s certainly showing the type of form that should make the Catalans sit up and take notice.

Barcelona are also likely to be watching Betis a bit more closely now that Carles Alena has joined on loan. The midfielder came on for the last nine minutes against Alaves but will be hoping for more game time going forward.

Recent reports have suggested Emerson is very much in Barca’s thoughts for the future.

Mundo Deportivo reported on Monday it will cost the Spanish champions €16m to sign Emerson either in January or next summer, Sport have a similar report but talk about a fee of €12m.

Meanwhile, speculation continues that Barca are ready to part ways with Nelson Semedo in the summer, and if the club seriously are in the market for a right-back then Emerson looks to be a serious option.
