Setien could call up Puig for Granada clash - report
The midfielder has trained with the first team this week
New Barcelona boss Quique Setien is a big fan of Riqui Puig and plans to call up the 20-year-old for Sunday’s La Liga clash with Granada at the Camp Nou.
The midfielder joined the first team for training on Tuesday and was back again on Wednesday, meaning he’s unlikely to plan in Barca B’s clash with Badalona this evening.
Cadena SER have already reported how Setien and his staff love Puig, while Mundo Deportivo go a step further by saying he will stay with the first team all week.
The report also says that Setien is considering including the youngster in his squad for Sunday’s game which will be the new manager’s first in charge of Barcelona.
Setien offered hope to the club’s youngsters when he was unveiled by Barca yesterday. He said he “will make a special effort to take care of these kids” and that “they will get the chance if they deserve it.”
Puig played twice for the first team last season but has not managed a single minute in 2019-20, but hopefully that is about to change under Setien.
