The coach continues to be linked with a Camp Nou return

Xavi was back at work with Al Sadd on Sunday morning as speculation he will replace Ernesto Valverde as Barcelona boss continues to swirl.

The 39-year-old oversaw the training session as his team begin preparations for Friday’s Qatar Cup final against Al-Duhail.

Meanwhile, back in Spain speculation over his future continues to make headlines all over the place.

Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Xavi will not take over at Barcelona just yet. The former midfielder wants to fulfil his contract with Al Sadd, which runs until June, but will continue talking to the Spanish champions.

Over at Sport there’s a similar angle. They report Xavi is inclined to say yes but would prefer to move at the end of the season rather than right now. Xavi does not think this is the best time to take over even though Barca want him now.

ESPN are also reporting Xavi isn’t coming now but may arrive in June, AS say he wants more time to make a decision, and Gerard Romero also reckons he’s rejected the idea of a move in January but could make the switch in the summer.
