The striker is keen to play but will he feature?

Martin Braithwaite has been talking about Sunday’s Clasico against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu and made it pretty clear how much he’d love to play in the game.

The new arrival from Leganes made an impact off the bench against Eibar last weekend and travelled with the Barcelona squad for their game in Napoli despite being ineligible to play.

He will now be hoping to make his first start for the club against Real Madrid at the weekend and says he is looking forward to the fixture.

“It will be a magnificent experience. It is the most important game, everyone sees it. There will be a lot of intensity.

“I like watching all the Clasico games, and I know there is a lot of tension between the two clubs.

“And I don’t talk only about football, there are other things. I really want to play the game.”

Braithwaite’s cameo against Eibar will have given Quique Setien plenty to think about, although you would expect the Denmark international to start on the bench.

Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann look certain to start in attack with Ansu Fati or Arturo Vidal also contenders for a place in Setien’s starting XI.

Yet Braithwaite could still be a useful option late on off the bench with a win for Barcelona enough to take them five points clear at the top of the table.
