Spain appears to be turning the corner

Daily deaths due to coronavirus in Spain have hit a 19-day low, as the country approves measures to ease lockdown restrictions. New daily cases are down as well, showing signs that emergency measures have finally had effect in ameliorating the crisis.

The Spanish government has announced that non-essential workers may return to work so long as employers can guarantee protective equipment and enough distance to avoid spreading the virus.

The country remains in a state of emergency and officials warned that the lockdown will not truly end until May at least.

Football will not return until that month at the soonest, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas.

The game has been put on hold since the middle of march. Barcelona’s last game was a 1-0 win against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou, which gave them the league lead.
