The transfer saga has reportedly taken another turn

Lautaro Martinez’s future continues to dominate the front pages in Spain on Thursday with Sport reporting that Inter Milan have hit back in the ongoing transfer saga.

The headlines is ‘Counterattack for Lautaro’ with the Catalan daily reporting that Inter are set to offer their striker a tempting new deal at the San Siro.

The plan is not to keep hold of the Argentinian particularly but to make it even harder, and more expensive, for Barca to sign him.

Martinez’s release clause of €111 million is only valid for two weeks in July, so Inter have offered him a new deal which doubles his salary and does not include such a clause.

Barcelona know that Inter can’t compete financially with them and remain keen to include players in the deal. Nelson Semedo and Carles Alena are the two currrent favourites but the Spanish champions are willing to offer others.

The club are ready to offer Martinez a five-year deal, with the option of two more, worth around €7m a season.
