The Brazilian is recovering from ankle surgery

Philippe Coutinho may have already played his last game for Bayern Munich after reportedly suffering a setback in his recovery from ankle surgery which means he could be out for another six weeks.

The Brazilian went under the knife two weeks ago and Bayern initially said he would begin his recovery programme in “around 14 days.”

However, Coutinho’s recovery looks to be taking longer than expected and could mean he’s out for the next six weeks, according to Mundo Deportivo.

If MD’s estimate proves correct then it’s unlikely Coutinho will be fit in time to play in any of Bayern’s remaining Bundesliga game.

The German league is due to restart next weekend and run until the final weekend of June. All teams have nine games remaining, apart from Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt who have 10.

Coutinho could still play a part for Bayern if the Champions League resumes, with reports claiming UEFA are hoping to play the competition in July and August.

Yet Coutinho’s loan deal with Bayern expires at the end of June, and it’s not clear what will happen to such players at that point if competitions are still being played.
