The Brazilian is looking forward to life under Ronald Koeman

Philippe Coutinho says he’s “very motivated” ahead of the start of the new La Liga season after returning to Barcelona from Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian looks set to be given a fresh start at the club by new boss Ronald Koeman and has featured heavily in pre-season.

Coutinho started for Barcelona in the 1-0 Joan Gamper Trophy win over Elche and picked up the MVP award after the 90 minutes.

The former Liverpool man admitted he felt happy to be back at the Camp Nou and was hoping for a good season with the Catalan giants.

“I missed playing at this stadium. Good feelings after the game, it’s the first game and it’s a week to go. We’re working hard, we’re all focused on having a good season,” he said.

“We haven’t had a lot of time, we’re going from less to more now and we have to keep working. We need to understand what the coaching staff wants.

“I’m really excited to get going, I want things to go well. I’m very motivated, I started pre-season early to get working, so things can came out well this season. We’re getting used to the way we train now. This will be good for the team.”

Coutinho will now be hoping for a place in Koeman’s starting XI next Sunday when Barcelona open up their La Liga campaign against Villarreal at the Camp Nou.
