Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo says it’s “unlikely” that his team will sign Luis Suarez from Barcelona.

The Uruguay international has been heavily linked with a move to Turin and travelled to Italy last week for an exam in order to gain Italian citizenship.

Pirlo was asked about the 33-year-old in his pre-match press conference on Saturday and played down his team’s chances of signing the Barca star.

“We’re all waiting for a centre forward. There is still a long way to go in the transfer window so we’re calm and happy, we’re not in a hurry,” he said.

“Suarez is difficult because it takes a long time to get the passport, so it’s unlikely that it could be him”.

It now seems likely that Juventus will move for Edin Dzeko instead, leaving Suarez’s situation somewhat unclear. The striker reportedly has other offers on the table but could also end up staying at Barca.
