The goalkeeper’s been talking goals

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been talking about life at Barcelona and how he loves being involved in the play even though he’s a goalkeeper.

The Germany international is renowned for his quality with the ball at his feet and even picked up two La Liga assists last season.

Ter Stegen says he loves playing out from the back, particularly when the move results in Barcelona scored a goal.

“When I look back on recent seasons how many goals have been scored from playing out from the back, it makes me very happy. I see that I can bring solutions to the team, and that’s what I want to do, helping the team by giving others the freedom to move around and make it difficult for the opponent to pressure us. We all want to reach our full potential and always improve. And this is what I have tried every year, there is always something you can do better.”

The goalkeeper is back to full fitness after missing the start of the season. He decided to stay with Barcelona over the international break, rather than join up with the Germany squad, a decision that looks even smarter in the wake of Spain’s 6-0 win over Joachim Low’s men.
