It’s been a tough week for Monday’s visitors

Real Valladolid boss Sergio Gonzalez says he’s hoping to surprise Barcelona on Monday in La Liga despite being without a host of players for the game at the Camp Nou.

The visitors have been hit with a Covid-19 outbreak and also have a host of injury problems which means they could be without up to 12 players for the fixture.

Sergio admits it has been a testing time for his club but is refusing to give up hope of getting a result at the Camp Nou.

‘It’s been a shit week,” he said.

“These two weeks were supposed to be for recharging our batteries but it’s been the opposite, due to the absences caused by Covid and now (the injuries) to Weissman, El Yamiq and Fede.

“It’s a complicated situation but I am convinced the team we put out will do well. We know how good the opponent is, but we go into the game with hope and to try and get a positive result. We must be convinced in our plan for the game and try to cause a surprise.”

Barca will be big favorites for the game as they aim to extend their 18-match unbeaten run in La Liga. The Catalan giants ran out 3-0 winners when the two teams met back in December at the Jose Zorilla Stadium.
