Former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari gave high praise to the Argentine

Luiz Felipe Scolari has stated that his admiration for Lionel Messi is such that he would get more joy out of coaching him than the happiness he felt for winning any title in his illustrious career.

The current Cruzeiro coach has won the FIFA World Cup, the Confederations Cup, the Brazilian league and cup, the Copa Libertadores twice, and the Asian Champions League among many other titles.

“I always say that my unrealized wishes were coaching Diego Maradona and Messi. I would have liked to share experiences with Maradona, apart from the fact that I was able to manage great players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, or Luís Figo, who were fantastic,” Scolari said.

It was with Rivaldo, Ronaldo, and Ronaldinho that Scolari won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002. And two years later, as the coach of Portugal, he was runner-up for the European Championship with a team that included Cristiano Ronaldo, Figo, and Deco.

“It would make a great difference in my career to have coached Messi. It would give me more joy than all the titles I won as a coach,” the manager said.

Scolari also gave his opinion on rumors that Neymar, whom he coached in Brazil’s 2013 Confederations Cup win, desperately wants to engineer a move back to FC Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain to reunite with Messi.

“I would like to see them together, but not at Barcelona. I would like to see them at PSG. They make a duo of a kind that hardly any other teams have ... There would not be a game in which PSG would not score goals. They are two geniuses.”

The former Chelsea, Grêmio, and Palmeiras manager also said he wanted to try his hand at managing one of the biggest teams in Argentina, Boca Juniors.
