Pique refuses to give up on La Liga title after Atletico draw
‘We’re still in contention seeing how this season’s gone’
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is refusing to give up on the league title despite Saturday’s costly draw to Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou.
The Catalan giants missed another chance to top the table against the Rojiblancos and must now win their last three games and hope Atleti and Real Madrid both drop points.
Yet Pique’s feeling optimistic and thinks there will still be a few more twists and turns in the title race before the 2020-21 season is finally done.
“We hoped to win this one but we’re still alive. We had more chances, we competed. We’re still in contention seeing how this season’s gone, I think we still have a chance,” he said.
“Anything can happen, as we have seen in La Liga. Madrid will win the league if they win four games, but the big teams are struggling to find consistency. The points totals are low and without fans in the stadiums everything is more even.
“I think if we win three games, we’re going to have a chance. That’s the idea now, to win out from here and compete until the end. It’s a shame because in recent months we’ve done well.”

Barca must aim to get back to winning ways at Levante on Tuesday. Paco Lopez’s side head into the match on a run of five games without a win.
