An investment company will give all La Liga clubs money

FC Barcelona will be allowed to register Lionel Messi, as well as new signings such as Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay, and Sergio Agüero, thanks to a big investment made in La Liga which will inject cash into all the teams. Messi’s contract renewal could be announced tomorrow as it is said it will no longer pose a salary cap problem.

Investment company CVC Capital Partners will pay La Liga around 3 billion euro in exchange for 10% ownership in the league. The deal must be approved by a majority of clubs in the first and second division, but is considered likely to go through.

The money will be distributed according to what each club got via TV distribution deals, with Real Madrid and Barcelona taking the most money.

Only 15% of the pay out can be used for new signings, but it’s a sigh of relief for many clubs, Barcelona included. Still, it is seen as a huge step as Messi should be registered without problems relating to the salary cap. His new deal could be announced tomorrow. On another front, Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappé could also be bolstered by the deal.

More details are expected to emerge regarding the deal, especially if and when it’s approved.
