Big changes for Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembélé

Following a dramatic end to their transfer window, Barcelona have finally confirmed the squad numbers for the 2021-22 season. This is the final squad, and these are their numbers:

The biggest of all big news is that Ansu Fati takes over Lionel Messi’s No. 10 in a clear message that he’s the future of the club. That’s a lot of pressure on the young man who hasn’t played in almost a year due to a serious knee injury, but it’s also a vote of confidence from the club in what is without a doubt one of the most exciting products of La Masia in recent times.

Another big change is Ousmane Dembélé, who switches from the No. 11 he’s worn since joining Barça to No. 7, Antoine Griezmann’s shirt and Ousmane’s number at Borussia Dortmund. Dembélé’s #11 goes to Yusuf Demir, who impressed so much in preseason that he’s already a first team player with a starting number.

New signing Luuk De Jong takes #17 for his season-long loan, and Óscar Mingueza takes over Emerson Royal’s #22 shirt with the Brazilian’s move to Tottenham. Sergio Agüero is #19 as he had already announced himself.

What do you think of this season’s squad numbers, Barça fans?
