FC Barcelona do not want to keep his salary on the books

Miralem Pjanić has failed to get a move to the many Serie A clubs he has been linked to, but there is still some hope that FC Barcelona can move him on to leagues in which the transfer market has not closed.

The Bosnian was linked with Juventus, AS Roma, Napoli, and Fiorentina, but in the end he did not fully convince them to take him even with the Catalans paying part of his admittedly massive salary.

Pjanić’s agent is said to be talking to teams in Turkey and Russia in order for him to get a team that will give him more chances as it’s understood that Ronald Koeman does not count on him.

Pjanić came in a swap deal with Juventus in which Arthur Melo went the other way. However, Koeman, who was hired after the transfer, has never been a fan of his. He’s rarely featured despite being one of the best paid players on the squad.

A reunion with Juve was rumored but ultimately it seems the bianconeri had no space in the wage bill for him.

On the other hand, it seems the Catalan club has resigned itself to keeping Samuel Umtiti, another handsomely paid player who rarely features. A salary reduction has been rumored, but there are no official news yet. Umtiti was considered one of the top defenders in the world but a series of injuries have largely reduced him to a shadow of his former self.
