The England star is reportedly a winter target

Manchester City and England winger Raheem Sterling is all over the front page of Diario Sport on Saturday with a report that he’s wanted at Barcelona in January.

The report claims that Sterling was wanted last summer too and Mateu Alemany even travelled to Manchester to try and close a deal with the Premier League side.

A loan or a swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele or Sergi Roberto was proposed but the two clubs couldn’t find an agreement.

That does not appear to have put Barcelona off with the report suggesting the Catalans will try again in January and are encouraged as Sterling seems to be losing prominence at City.

Barca still don’t expect a deal to be easy and will also need Pep Guardiola to help them out by authorizing Sterling’s departure from the club after seven years.

City do have a host of options in attack with Jack Grealish having joined the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden at the Etihad.

It’s thought that despite Barca’s financial mess the club will have some funds to invest this winter. Sterling is the latest name to be linked with a January move, while Dani Olmo’s name has also been mentioned.
