The Catalans took on AE Pret on Wednesday

Barcelona played a friendly training match at the Ciutat Esportiva on Wednesday against fourth tier side AE Pret.

The game allowed a number of players returning from injury some valuable game time and also saw Luuk de Jong get to play alongside his new teammates following his move from Sevilla.

Oscar Mingueza also featured as he returns from injury, while Pedri also played following his return to training after a vacation.

Youngsters Nico Gonzalez, Arnau Comas, Zacarias Ghailán, Matheus, Peque Polo, Lucas de Vega, Ferran Jutglà, and Gavi also enjoyed game time, although there was no place for Gerard Pique or Ansu Fati who “did individual exercises” instead.

Barca ran out 2-1 winners with Alejandro Balde and fit-again Philippe Coutinho on the scoresheet. Coutinho is yet to feature competitively for Barca in 2021 but is being tipped to get some minutes against Bayern Munich next week.

The game will come in handy with Barcelona not in action this weekend after seeing their La Liga clash with Sevilla postponed. The decision means the Catalan giants do not play again until Bayern visit on September 14.

Bayern are in action this weekend and take on RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The Bavarian giants will then turn their attentions back to the Champions League and their trip to the Camp Nou.
