Xavi takes Barcelona training for first time
The coach is straight to work
New Barcelona coach Xavi took charge of first-team training for the first team on Tuesday at the Ciutat Esportiva after being unveiled at the club on Monday.
The 41-year-old is without a host of players due to injury and international call-ups which meant several youngsters joined the session and had the chance to impress the new boss.

Perhaps the most notable call-up was for 17-year-old Ilias Akhomach who has already been tipped to play for the first team before the season’s out.
It’s perhaps no surprise to see Ilias in training after he scored a brace for Barcelona B during Saturday’s win over Sevilla Atletico with Xavi watching in the stands.

Ilais was joined in Monday’s session by fellow youngsters Arnau Comas, Mika Marmol, Alvaro Sanz, Ez Abde, Ferran Jutgla, and Antonio Aranda.
Xavi was at work early on Tuesday and reportedly arrived two hours before the session in order to meet the players and chat about his plans for the season.

President Joan Laporta was also in attedance along with vice-president for sport Rafa Yuste, director of football Mateu Alemany, Jordi Cruyff and chief technical secretary Ramon Planes.
Xavi spoke about his early training plans yesterday at his press conference.
“We will start working in our way and then we will explain it to the ones that are with their national teams,” he said. “We have a clear plan and we are going to follow it point by point in order to have our players at the best level. Everything is planned until the Espanyol game and then we will see what players will be available.”
Espanyol are first up for Xavi on November 20 at the Camp Nou before a key game against Benfica in the Champions League three days later.
