The hunt for a new coach has come to a halt

Barcelona’s hunt for a new coach to replace Xavi seemingly hasn’t made much progress in the weeks since he announced he would leave at the end of the season.

Diario Sport are now reporting that Barcelona have two options currently. To either continue with Xavi or to go with Rafa Marquez instead.

Barca have pretty much given up on Roberto De Zerbi, for financial reasons, don’t seem too impressed with Hansi Flick and have finally realised Luis Enrique won’t return.

The report claims that Marquez has emerged as “the No. 1 option” to take over from Xavi for several reasons.

Marquez has done a good job with Barca Atletic, has a good relationship with Deco, knows the club inside out and the move would also work well for the club on a financial level.

Yet it’s not ruled out that Xavi will end up staying and it’s thought “everything will be clearer” after this week which brings crucial games against PSG and Real Madrid.
