Here’s the club’s full statement on the deal:
FC Barcelona and defender Álex Valle have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract until 30 June 2026, with the option of two further seasons.

Valle returned from his loan at Levante this summer and was hoping to impress manager Hansi Flick enough to earn a spot in the first team as Alejandro Balde’s backup, but the emergence of Gerard Martín changed Flick’s plans and Valle lost his spot in the squad and wasn’t used in any of the first three La Liga games after playing most of preseason out of position at right-back.
The youngster will now spend a season in a tough, physical league in Scotland that could help him develop further as a player, and he could finally earn a spot in Barça’s squad a year from now.
Good luck at Celtic, Álex!
