Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that new signing Dani Olmo will not be available to play against Valencia on Saturday but Pedri is fit for the team’s La Liga opener.

Olmo has just arrived from RB Leipzig but has not yet been registered with the Catalan giants following his move.

Flick says that Olmo won’t play at Mestalla, due to a lack of match fitness, but is hoping to see Pedri back in action after a knee injury.

“We now have 22-23 players and we’ll see tomorrow. Now they are all in the team and are an option to play tomorrow,” he told reporters.

“Dani Olmo is not yet an option for tomorrow, because he arrived recently and has few training sessions. First he has to train to be able to help us.”

“Pedri is a special player and he changes the team by himself. Perhaps he will be an option for the second half and I’m sure he can help us a lot.”

The new Barca coach also confirmed that Lamine Yamal is in contention to play, despite the recent events regarding his father who remains in hospital after being stabbed.
