Barça squad named for Young Boys
Hansi Flick has called up 23 players for Tuesday’s clash
The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana make their home debut in the new League Phase format of this season’s UEFA Champions League against Swiss champions Young Boys, and Hansi Flick has called up the following 23 players for Tuesday’s game:
Goalkeepers: 13. Iñaki Peña, 26. Ander Astralaga, 40. Áron Yaakobishvili
Defenders: 2. Pau Cubarsí, 3. Alejandro Balde, 5. Iñigo Martínez, 23. Jules Kounde, 32. Héctor Fort, 35. Gerard Martín, 36. Sergi Domínguez, 39. Andrés Cuenca
Midfielders: 8. Pedri, 14. Pablo Torre, 17. Marc Casadó, 21. Frenkie de Jong, 41. Guille Fernández, 42. Toni Fernández
Forwards: 7. Ferran Torres, 9. Robert Lewandowski, 10. Ansu Fati, 11. Raphinha, 18. Pau Víctor, 19. Lamine Yamal
The big news for this one is the much-anticipated return of Frenkie de Jong, who is finally back after missing over five months with an ankle injury. De Jong won’t start and is likely to get only a few second half minutes, but his comeback alone is crucial given Barça’s list of absences for this one: Eric García is suspended due to his red card in the European opener, while Marc-André ter Stegen (knee), Ronald Araujo (hamstring), Andreas Christensen (Achilles), Fermín López (hamstring), Dani Olmo (hamstring) and Marc Bernal (knee) are ruled out due to injury, and Gavi (knee) is back in training but still awaiting his medical clearance.
Predicted starting XI (4-3-3):
Peña; Kounde, Cubarsí, Iñigo, Balde; Torre, Casadó, Pedri; Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha
The match kicks off at 9pm CET (Barcelona), 8pm BST/WAT (UK & Nigeria), 3pm ET, 12pm PT (USA), 12.30am IST (India, Wednesday), and you can join us to follow and comment all the action.
