Another step forward

Gavi took another step closer to his long-awaited first-team comeback at Barcelona after coming through a practice match at the club on Wednesday.

The midfield star, who has been out for almost a year with a serious knee injury, is expected to be ready to play again after the current international break.

According to Cadena SER, Gavi took part in a practice match with those first-team stars not called up for international duty and Barca Atletic players.

Gavi played around 45 minutes of the game, showed he was at a good level and looked in good physical condition.

The youngster teamed up with Frenkie de Jong in midfield, with the Dutchman missing out on international duty as he works his way back from a long spell out with an ankle problem.

It’s been reported previously that Hansi Flick could call up Gavi to his squad for Barca’s next game against Sevilla and the midfielder is said to be eager to make the trip.
