The two youngsters are doubtful for the game

As Barcelona continue their preparations for Sunday’s La Liga match away to Real Sociedad there were two big names missing as Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo did not participate in the group training session on Saturday, with Yamal only doing gym work while Olmo felt sick the night before and couldn’t take part in practice due to an upset stomach.

Hansi Flick was asked in a press conference on Saturday about the status of the two young stars, and it looks as though both will be available for the trip but might not be part of the starting XI if the coach decides to take a more cautious approach with the duo.

“Lamine has done specific strength training, he has played many games and we have to take care of him and see the situation. Dani felt bad last night, this morning he was a little better. I think he will be ready”

A rest for Yamal wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world given the amount of minutes the teenager has already played for club and country this season, and there’s enough depth in the team now to replace him with another quality player like Fermín López or Ansu Fati, which would move Raphinha to the right wing where he’s more than comfortable.

As for Olmo it is really about how healthy he feels at kickoff time. The fact this is not an injury is a good bit of news, and if Dani’s stomach is back to 100% before the game then there should be no issues playing him. We’ll wait for the team news on Sunday, but it sounds like there’s nothing to really worry about with either player.
