‘He must stay at Barcelona’ - Mendes talks Yamal renewal
A renewal is expected soon
Lamine Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been talking about the Barcelona wonderkid’s future and continues to insist a renewal will be signed soon.
The teenager’s current deal runs until 2026 but there have been suggestions a long-term deal has already been verbally agreed.
It’s thought Yamal’s deal will be made official in July when he turns 18, and Mendes says he has to stay at Barcelona.
“Lamine Yamal will surely renew soon, he must stay at Barcelona. I can’t tell you if he will renew in a month or two, but it will definitely happen,” he said via Mundo Deportivo.
“The truth is that Lamine was phenomenal last season. For me and for many others he was the best player in the world last year, both with Spain and with FC Barcelona.
“He is a totally different player to all the others: he knows what he needs for his future, he is a balanced boy and I think he is ready to be at the top for many years to come.
“Now he is recovering from the injury, he must be a little patient and he will soon be back in the team.”
Yamal is currently recovering from an ankle injury, but it is hoped he will be fit to return to action in early January.
