Araujo admits he was ‘haunted’ by red card for Barca against PSG

It took a while to get over....
Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has admitted he was “haunted” by his red card against PSG in the Champions League last year.
The Catalans were winning 4-2 when Araujo was handed his marching orders, and the sending off proved costly as PSG went on to progress at Barca’s expense.
Araujo issued a heartfelt apology to fans after the match and has now revealed it took him some time to get over the disappointment of seeing red in such a crucial match.
“At the beginning it did haunt me, especially for the rest of the season. But then over time I forgot it, it is part of the past. A clean slate. There is a new story to be written,” he told Diario Sport.
“The big players are mentally strong and know how to overcome these situations. I consider myself one of those.
“I won’t deny that after that in La Liga I wasn’t at the level I usually have, but let’s keep going. There is a lot of career to build, to give for this club”.
The defender will be hoping he can make up for it in this season’s tournament. Barca are into the last 16 and will play Benfica for a place in the quarter-finals.
