The coach was not happy with their attitude after the win over Celta

Hansi Flick sent a message to Ansu Fati and Héctor Fort in a press conference on Monday after the two young players were caught having disappointed reactions to not being used as substitutes in the comeback win over Celta Vigo on Saturday.

Fati kicked a water cooler after not coming on despite going through a long warm-up, while Fort refused to listen to Flick’s explanation for why he wasn’t used off the bench and went to the dressing room without speaking to his boss.

Flick was asked about the two public displays of frustration from his players, and made it clear he wasn’t happy with their reactions. But he did say they still have a chance to play again, and wants to see a good reaction from the youngsters if and when they do feature.

“I can understand they are disappointed, but I can’t understand the reactions. I want to see the right reaction when they play on the pitch, not after a match that we won”.

Ansu and Héctor’s reactions are understandable given their lack of minutes all season long, but at the end of the day Barça were losing a game at home in the middle of a very tight title race and Flick made the substitutions he thought gave his team the best chance to win. They worked, and Barça earned three crucial points.

Fati and Fort’s frustration is certainly not just about Saturday, however, and perhaps Flick could learn a lesson from this and think about ways to rotate his squad a little more next season. But for now, hopefully this issue is resolved so there is no unnecessary drama in the dressing room in the middle of a Treble chase, and these two get some minutes soon in what is a very packed schedule for Barça.
