Not a man to mince his words

Barcelona midfielder Gavi was on press conference duties on Tuesday to look ahead to tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Dortmund.

The 20-year-old spoke on a range of topics and had a special message for his critics at Barcelona which drew laughter from the press pack.

“A lot of people think I don’t know how to play football, and they don’t have a f***ing clue! It’s understandable; everyone thinks what they want, and that’s fine,” he told reporters.

Gavi also insisted he’s feeling “100%” after recovery from his ACL injury that saw him sidelined for a year.

“I’m 100 percent. In some games I’m more comfortable, but I’m fine. I’m calm and comfortable. And happy with the performance I’m giving. I can contribute to the team,” he added.

“On the pitch, you can tell I haven’t changed a bit because of the injury. I have the same mentality. I’m calm and happy to be back after the injury. Many don’t come back the same, but I know what I’m capable of, and my mentality. I’m back as the player I was before.

“Hansi and I are very close. He understands that I’m coming off a serious injury. It’s hard coming off a year’s layoff, but for me this season has been spectacular. I’m very happy with him.”

Flick handed Gavi a start last time out against Betis but it remains to be seen if he’ll continue against Dortmund, with Fermin Lopez being tipped to get the nod instead.
