Time to move on? What next for Barcelona after Real Madrid’s €150m bid for Julian Alvarez

The Julian Alvarez transfer saga took a fresh twist this week as Real Madrid announced in an official statement they had made a €150 million bid for the Argentina international which had been rejected by Atletico.

Los Colchoneros promptly responded with a predictably spiky message on social media, also making sure to take aim at Barcelona once again.

The events have prompted plenty of debate over Real Madrid’s intentions and whether in fact both clubs are simply trying to mess with Barcelona.

The Catalans have reportedly made a €100m bid for Alvarez, which Atletico apparently don’t want to acknowledge, and are said to be unfazed by Real Madrid’s offer.

The rumor mill also claims that Barcelona won’t go crazy for Alvarez and remain confident Atletico can be drawn to the negotiating table as the striker wants to join Hansi Flick’s this summer.

With the World Cup about to start, it seems almost certain that any transfer for Alvarez is going to be a long, drawn-out and potentially ugly affair which may not even end in success for Barca.

So is it really worth it? Or should Barca think about moving on and looking at other targets?

Tell us what you think about Alvarez and whether Barca should keep going or call it a day in the comments below!
