FC Barcelona have won the Copa Catalunya for the sixth time in team history after winning 2–0 at RCD Espanyol on Sunday. Xavi Llorens's team won the title for the second consecutive year in a final played against the only other Catalan team in the First Division.
Ruth García opened the scoring after 56 minutes when she headed home a corner kick after being left unmarked in the Espanyol area.
With just nine minutes to play Gemma Gili put the nail in the coffin with a long-range shot that hit the underside of the cross bar before going in. Gemma had Barça's third on her boot but was stymied by Espanyol goalkeeper Andrea.
Number six
Both of Barça's back-to-back Copa Catalunya titles have come versus Espanyol. With six titles they pull ahead of Espanyol, who have five. Miriam Diéguez and Mariona Caldentey, who were injured and did not play, were tasked with raising the cup to celebrate the team's first title of the season.
