Alena keen to give Valverde a selection headache
The midfielder wants to land a regular place
Carles Alena scored his first La Liga goal for Barcelona on Sunday and said after the game he’s keen to give Ernesto Valverde a selection headache.
The 20-year-old replaced Arturo Vidal and made his mark with a fine second goal late on to secure the win.
He said after the game it was a dream to score at the Camp Nou and also about how he’s keen to take advantage of any first-team opportunities that come his way.
“Everything is easier with Messi, only he can see that pass,” he said.
“He puts the ball where he wants. Then, with the one on one, I was really happy to score at Camp Nou. It’s a dream come true.
“It’s about doing well and giving the coach a headache when it comes to picking the team.
“I know I am doing well and now I have to make the most of the opportunities which come my way.”

Alena certainly took his chance to impress on Sunday, and he should hopefully get another opportunity on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey.
