Atletico make Barcelona wait for La Liga title
Diego Simeone’s side beat Valencia in a thriller
Atletico Madrid have made Barcelona wait to be crowned La Liga champions with a 3-2 win over Valencia on Wednesday at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Victory for the visitors would have handed Barcelona the title, but the hosts went ahead early on when Alvaro Morata opened the scoring after just nine minutes.
Álvaro Morata has now scored more league goals for Atlético Madrid this season (6 in 12 games) than he managed in 16 games for Chelsea (5).

Valencia equalised on 36 minutes through Kevin Gameiro, before Atletico Madrid went ahead again just after half-time when Antoine Griezmann headed a Thomas Lemar cross home.

Dani Parejo’s 77th minute penalty gave Valencia hope of a draw, but Angel Correa hit the winner four minutes later to give Atletico all three points.
The result means Barcelona will be crowned champions if they beat Levante on Saturday evening, but they could win the title earlier in the day if Atletico Madrid lose to strugglers Real Valladolid.
