Pique blames busy pre-season for Barca’s slow start
Too much travel and not enough training, apparently
Gerard Pique has pointed the finger at Barcelona’s pre-season trips around the world for the club’s slow start to the season.
Ernesto Valverde’s side spent time in Japan and the United States ahead of the campaign and have gone on to suffer two defeats in their opening six games.
Pique says all the travelling has not helped the team and is the reason why many players are struggling to find his best form.
“The pre-season did not help at all for a good start in LaLiga. There was a lot of travel and little training,” he said.
”Many of us notice it and we aren’t in sync yet, not only Messi, but we must continue because we are forced to win; it is a setback.
”Look now what has happened to Messi, but there are no excuses, in the team there are qualified people to replace him and move on, although we hope he will be out as short a time as possible.
”There are quite a few players who ar not in sync because it is what it is. I do not know the severity of his [Messi’s] injury and I hope it is as little as possible.

Barcelona managed a hard-fought win over Villarreal on Tuesday at the Camp Nou, but their away form will be tested again on Saturday against Getafe.
Jose Bordalas’ side are unbeaten at home in four matches in all competitions this season and will fancy their chances of getting a result against the champions on current form.
