The defender played down injury fears

Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo has played down injury fears and explained he went off against Sevilla due to tiredness.

The Frenchman made his first start of the season alongside Gerard Pique in central defence but was replaced on 73 minutes after appearing to take a knock.

Todibo was replaced by Barcelona B’s Ronald Araujo and spoke about the substitution after the match.

“I had not been competing for a long time and I felt exhausted,” he said.

“I am a little sad that I could not finish the game, but the change was only because I felt tired.”

Araujo made his league debut when he came on but lasted only 13 minutes before being sent off for a foul on Javier Hernandez.

Gerard Pique also picked up his fifth booking of the season, earning him a one-match suspension, which means Todibo should continue in the starting XI next time out against Eibar.
