Frenkie says Barca are ‘not playing as badly as people think’
The midfielder spoke ahead of the clash with Dortmund
Frenkie de Jong faced the press on Tuesday to talk about Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at the Camp Nou.
The Barcelona midfielder was asked about his team’s form this season and whether he regretted swapping Ajax for the Catalan giants in the summer transfer window.
The Dutch star made it clear he’s happy at the Camp Nou and also claimed the team haven’t been quite as bad as has been suggested by some quarters.
“I’m really happy to be here. It’s everything I dreamed of. Of course we can play better, we’re working as hard as we can and hopefully everyone can see that we’re improving,” he said.
”We can play better, I think we have an amazing team, most of the best players in the world, so we know we can perform better but we’re winning, first in the most difficult group in the tournament. We’re not doing really, really bad but of course we can do better.
”We know we can improve, we talk about it a lot, we’re training a lot. There’s not a single game where a team made no mistakes so it’s normal to make mistakes. I think we can improve a lot but we’re not playing as badly as people think.”
Frenkie has been a virtual ever-present this season since joining from Ajax and has fitted in well to his new club. He is expected to start again on Wednesday against Dortmund as Barcelona aim for the win that will send them through to the knockout stages.
