Ter Stegen: Winning El Clasico would mean everything
The champions are at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been talking about El Clasico and says victory on Sunday against Real Madrid would “mean everything” to his team.
Quique Setien’s side can move five points clear with a win at the Santiago Bernabeu and have an excellent recent record at the home of their fierce rivals.
Ter Stegen explained what Barcelona will need to do if they are to take a vital three points home from the Spanish capital on Sunday night.
“We want to play as always, we want to keep possession, we want to be better than the opponents. It will be tough but we can stop them, we have great players, hopefully they can’t come to close to me.
“The key to this is teamwork and we know that everything needs to work in special moments. We need to be there, we need to be focused and ready and this is one of the moments in the season that we can really make a change. It’s on us. It’s not about somebody else. We know we have a lot of strength. I’m very confident when it comes to our team.
“This would mean everything to us to win this game, to have it in our hands again. We are going to go there and play one game and we want to be the ones who leave Madrid with three points. We don’t think about what’s happening in the league or the season. We just want to win this game.”

Real Madrid have hit a bit of a rough patch recently. Zinedine Zidane’s side have won only one of their last five matches and will know that another defeat will be a big blow to their title hopes.
