So many rumors we made a team

The summer transfer window may still be months away but rumors surrounding players potentially on their way to Barcelona continue to come thick and fast.

There have already been dozens of names linked with a move to the Camp Nou, so let’s have a bit of fun and figure out a starting XI based entirely on rumors.

Goalkeeper: Andre Onana

The rumor mill would have you believe that Marc-Andre ter Stegen could be off this summer as contract talks with Barcelona have reportedly stalled.

There’s been talk of interest from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, although it’s still difficult to take any of it very seriously.

Meanwhile, rumors of Barca interest in Andre Onana have resurfaced. Indeed it has been reported the club are in “constant contact” with Ajax about the goalkeeper.

The stopper has been asked about the rumors too and said: “Barca is my home. If I have to go back, I will go back.”

Defence: Emerson, Dayot Upamecano, Felipe Luiz, Nicolás Tagliafico

Barcelona have been linked with dozens of defenders because the rumor mill also reckons they will offload Samuel Umtiti in the summer. Nelson Semedo could be on his way out too.

Centre-backs Dayot Upamecano and Luiz Felipe have been the two most regularly linked with Barca, although AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli has joined the fray too.

At right-back there’s been talk of Emerson arriving from Real Betis ahead of schedule, while on the other flank there’s been some fairly scary talk about a deal for Layvin Kurzawa.

Ajax left-back Nicolás Tagliafico is also reportedly an option as he is expected to leave the Eredivisie club this summer.

There have been other names mentioned too, most notably Bayern Munich’s David Alaba, Man City’s Aymeric Laporte and Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.

Midfield: Fabian Ruiz, N’Golo Kante, Tanguy Ndombele

Into midfield and replacements are likely to be needed for Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal who are expected to wave goodbye to Barcelona in the summer.

Rumors surrounding a move for Fabian Ruiz refuse to go away, although the midfielder is also reportedly wanted by Real Madrid.

The name of Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has surprisingly turned up in recent weeks after he fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho in north London.

This week also saw a report that Barcelona fancy bringing in N’Golo Kante from Chelsea and want to swap the World Cup winner for Philippe Coutinho.

Meanwhile, moves for Valencia youngster Ferran Torres and Juventus outcast Federico Bernadeschi have also been mentioned.

Attack: Lautaro Martinez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Neymar

In attack there is simply no escaping the Lautaro and Neymar rumors which seem to have ramped up since the actual football was put on hold.

The Inter Milan forward seems the top priority, although there have also been reports Barca have promised to bring Neymar back from PSG in 2020.

The financial climate means Barca may find it tricky to afford either, without significant departures, and there have been rumors of cheaper options.

Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a striker whose name refuses to go away, while Timo Werner’s name pops up every now and again.

The club have also been linked with a host of less well-known attackers including Donyell Malen, Myron Boadu, Calvin Stengs, Kingsley Coman and Alexander Isak.

Transfer Rumor XI: Onana; Emerson, Upmecano, Felipe, Tagliafico; Ruiz, Kante, Ndombele; Lautaro, Aubameyang, Neymar.
