The football world attempts to restore order after the disruption from the coronavirus crisis

FIFA has approved new guidelines which tell national associations to extend contracts due to expire and push transfer windows back, in order to complete their current seasons once coronavirus outbreaks subside enough for games to be played.

With seasons on indefinite hold, there was the risk of players’ contracts expiring in June - before the campaign was finished. These should be updated to expire until the end of the season, whenever it happens.

Transfer windows will also be pushed back in order to accommodate changes in the schedules.

FIFA has suspended rules that would have made ending the season past a certain date impossible.

Football’s governing body has encouraged players and teams to come to an agreement regarding pay, saying it will serve as an arbiter if the two sides cannot strike a deal.
