Conflicting reports on both players

The rumor mill seems to have got itself in a bit of tangle over the weekend with conflicting reports about Ivan Rakitic and Junior Firpo flying about.

Over at Marca the word is that Rakitic is a “real option” to join Atletico Madrid, as the club are looking at players who are coming towards the end of their current deals.

Rakitic’s Barcelona contract runs out in 2021, so he fits the bill, and he is keen to stay in Spain if he does leave the Camp Nou.

Yet over at Sport the news is that Barcelona know nothing about any interest from Atleti regarding Rakitic and are not expecting any either.

Indeed their report suggests the only team Rakitic is really interested in playing for is former side Sevilla, and he would possibly not even listen to any Atletico offers.

Junior Firpo is also attracting plenty of headlines. Sport report that Napoli have been in touch with Barcelona to discuss his situation and have been told he’s for sale.

Barcelona want €20 million for the left-back, which may be a problem for Napoli, although the report claims he is a “priority” for the Serie A side.

However, Mundo Deportivo have been checking out reports in Italy and reckon Napoli aren’t interested in Junior at all because he’s too expensive.

Indeed the club are apparently targeting a move for Konstantinos Tsimikas from Olympiakos instead.

The current lack of football means the rumor mill is pretty busy at the moment, and you can expect plenty more rumors concerning these two players over the coming months.
