The Napoli midfielder is a wanted man

Barcelona manager Quique Setien reportedly “dreams” of bringing Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz to the Camp Nou.

The 61-year-old, who worked with Fabian at Real Betis, sees the midfielder as the perfect replacement for ageing stars Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal, according to AS.

Both are expected to leave in the summer transfer window and Barca are thinking about bringing in another young midfielder if possible.

If Fabian were to arrive it would mean the average age of Barca’s midfield would drop from 32 (Rakitic, Busquets and Vidal) to 24 (Frenkie, Fabian and Arthur).

The report also suggests that Carles Alena, Riqui Puig and Alex Collado remain in Barca’s thoughts and will get a chance to impress, but Fabian remains a transfer target.

Real Madrid have also been linked with the midfielder, and his agent has admitted that Los Blancos have asked about the 24-year-old.
