Ronald Koeman hospitalised with chest problems
The Netherlands boss has undergone a procedure in Amsterdam
Former Barcelona defender and current Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman has been hospitalised in Amsterdam with chest problems.
The 57-year-old’s wife, Bartina, and agent Rob Jansen, have confirmed to De Telegraaf that he was rushed to hospital and underwent “cardiac catheterisation.”
Koeman will spend the night in hospital but is expected to be allowed home on Monday, according to the report.
BBC Sport have a statement from his management company that reads: “Ronald will need a few days rest, hopefully it will be respected by you.”
The Dutch football association, the KNVB, have tweeted: “This is a shock. Fortunately things are going better again. Much strength and improvement, coach.”
Koeman spent six years as a player at Barcelona, winning the league title six times and the Copa del Rey.
The Dutchman also helped Barca win the European Cup for the first time in 1992, scoring an extra-time winner to beat Sampdoria 1-0.
Koeman has been linked with taking charge of Barcelona in recent seasons. The 57-year-old is currently in charge of the Netherlands national team but has said it would be a “dream” to manage Barca.
