The former midfielder has been talking about the GOAT

Xavi has been talking about Barcelona captain Lionel Messi in an Instagram chat with Samuel Eto’o and reckons the Argentina international has “got five or seven very good years left in him.”

The 32-year-old admitted in his Ballon d’Or acceptance speech back in December that “retirement is approaching” but Xavi thinks he has a way to go just yet

“He’s still got five or seven very good years left in him,” he said.

“He takes good care of himself and he can keep playing until he’s 37, 38 or 39.

“He’ll play at the Qatar World Cup, I’m sure.”

Messi’s current contract at Barcelona expires next summer, but his renewal is said to be one of the club’s top priorities as they look to secure his future.

The Argentinian spoke about the Qatar World Cup in June 2019 but said he did not know if he would be able to play in the tournament and that he would have to “see if my body holds up.”
