Garcia Pimienta ‘crushed’ by Barca B’s playoff defeat
The coach was not happy with some of the decisions
Barcelona B coach Francisco Javier García Pimienta admitted he felt “crushed” after seeing his side miss out on promotion following a 2-1 defeat to Sabadell on Sunday.
Monchu’s goal gave Barca B the lead in the game but Sabadell hit back in the second half to take victory and a place in the Segunda Division.
Sergio Akieme saw what would have been a late equaliser chalked off, leaving García Pimienta proud but frustrated after the game.
“There are no excuses. They are winning lads and from the first until last they went out for the win. I’m crushed by the defeat but happy for Barca B and how they performed in this play-off.”
“We scored a goal I think was legal, from what I’ve seen on the telly, and there was a possible penalty on Araujo. However what I’ll remember is the boys who have fought until the last minute and that the team really showed up.
“I’m very proud. Few players who started the season this year were here today. We came here with young lads and they gave it all at every moment, I’m very proud of this squad.”

It was a tough night for Barca B and García Pimienta who has signed a one-year extension at the club and will continue to coach the team next season.
