The 17-year-old was the star of the show

Barcelona’s Ansu Fati had a full debut to remember for Spain in their Nations League win over Ukraine on Sunday night.

The 17-year-old was handed his first start for the national side by manager Luis Enrique and won a penalty after just 100 seconds of the clash.

Sergio Ramos duly converted to make it 1-0 to the hosts, but Ansu continued to wreak havoc down the left for La Roja.

He went close with a low shot, almost scored a brilliant bicycle kick and then did find the back of the net after he cut inside and curled a low shot home.

The goal means more history for the teenager. He is now the youngest goalscorer in Spain’s history at the age of 17 years and 311 days.

The second half saw Lucho hand Eric Garcia his Spain debut. The former Barca defender replaced Sergio Ramos on the hour, while Fati came close to a second after the break from a corner but saw Andriy Pyatov stop his effort on the line.

Ferran Torres wrapped up the win with Spain’s fourth goal on 84 minutes to complete a great night’s work for Enrique’s team, but there’s no doubt that Fati was the star of the show.

What a talent.
