The 17-year-old made an impression against Nastic

Barcelona are not thinking about sending Pedri out on loan next season and want to keep him with the first-team squad.

There have been a few whispers that the 17-year-old, who only arrived this summer from Las Palmas, could leave in order to play regularly elsewhere.

Pedri himself has admitted it’s something he’d think about because he just wants to play, and Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on the youngster as well as Las Palmas.

However, Barcelona are simply not considering letting Pedri leave this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The teenager made his Barca debut against Nastic on Saturday and played well, catching the eye in particular with a cute dummy before Ousmane Dembele’s early opener.

Sport are running a similar story on Monday. They reckon he’ll be given a squad number soon and has impressed the coach staff with his self-confidence and mobility.

Manager Ronald Koeman took time out to praise Pedri after the game, and the youngster looks to have made a good early impression on the Dutch coach.

“Pedri is a great talent, he is 17 years old and he is an important signing for the future. He is training with us and has the quality to play. We will see how much he can participate.”

Pedri will have to fight hard for first-team minutes next season, but for now at least it seems as if he will be handed the chance impress at the Camp Nou in 2020-21.
