Barcelona Femeni go top with big win over Atletico
A great performance by the hosts
Barcelona Femeni took all three points in Wednesday’s big game with a 3-0 win over Atletico at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The victory continues the team’s perfect start to the season and sees LluÃs Cortés’s side move above Atletico to the top of the table.
Barca have yet to even concede a goal in five outings in 2020-21, while the win is also the first team Atletico have been beaten in the new campaign.
The visitors did have the chance to take the lead but former Barcelona striker Toni Duggan saw her penalty saved by goalkeeper Cata Coll.

Barca’s second arrived four minutes later from the penalty spot. Jenni Hermoso showed Duggan how it’s done by calmly stroking home a confident spot-kick.
The scoring was completed with just six minutes left when Lieke Mertens made it 3-0. A great turn and finish by the Dutch star wrapped up an impressive win for Barca.
