The club legend is/isn’t negotiating with the Catalans

Xavi may have just signed a new contract with Al Sadd but that doesn’t seem to matter with the Barcelona legend once again being linked with a move to the Camp Nou.

According to Diari Ara, the club are due to meet with Xavi in the coming days to talk about the possibility of replacing Ronald Koeman as first-team coach.

The timing of the report is a bit of a surprise as Xavi only penned a new deal earlier this week and denied rumors the new deal contained a clause allowing him to return to Barca.

“This is incorrect. I have a two-season contract with Al-Sadd, and I respect this contract, and I also respect the official negotiation methods between all parties,” he said.

“Our challenge is to continue to improve and develop, and I am very excited to help Al-Sadd players do that.”

It’s not the only Xavi rumor flying about. Mundo Deportivo report that Xavi will arrive in Barcelona on Monday to spend some days off with his family.

Catalunya Radio are also talking about Xavi but reckon the former midfielder has denied the rumor he’s heading to Barcelona for talks.

Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman’s future remains uncertain ahead of Barcelona’s last two matches, although he insisted in his pre-match press conference he wants to stay.

The Dutchman also said he felt a little “mistreated” after coming in for plenty of criticism after Barca’s title hopes slipped away.

It’s still not clear if Koeman will stay or go this summer, but if Laporta does meet Xavi and talks are positive it would likely spell the end for the Dutchman.
