Szczęsny breaks silence on Barca interest after Ter Stegen injury
The goalkeeper is willing to talk
Wojciech Szczęsny has confirmed he’s willing to talk to Barcelona about a possible move after Marc-Andre ter Stegen was ruled out with a knee injury.
The Poland international has emerged as Barca’s top target to come in for Ter Stegen, and he’s now spoken to Sport about the rumors of a possible move.
“I respect Barça’s history a lot; It is one of the best clubs in the world. I understand the difficult situation that has been generated for them after the injury of Marc-André Ter Stegen and I think it would be disrespectful of me not to consider this option,” he said.
Szczęsny retired in the summer but appears to be willing to make a comeback and help out Barcelona at a difficult time.
Yet it’s not quite as easy as all that. It’s also being widely reported that Szczesny terminated his contract with previous club Juventus a year early.
Juventus are therefore due a fee if he does come out of retirement to play again, meaning negotiations will be needed before he can head to Catalunya.
